Old Folks

The tune Old Folks is found on Max Roach's "Award-Winning Drummer" record on Time, BCD 1042.

You can see a noisy version of Paul Berliner's transcription of Booker's solo here. It is a GIF taking up 40K. See the original transcriptions in Thinking in Jazz: the infinite art of improvisation, University of Chicago Press, 1994.

Berliner transcribed four phrases, the "melody rendition" and 3 repeats of variations of this melody. I sampled these phrases (with slight extensions on each end) into four separate files, corresponding to Berliner's a., b., c., and d. These are all 22kHz mu-laws weighing in at about 200K each.
