Effects of Adapting on Localized Responses

The histograms for the 2Hz trials from figs. 2 and 3 are compared. Aftereffects are seen at some but not all receptive field positions.

In particular, timing aftereffects are seen at 0.4 degrees, but not at 0.1 or -0.1 degrees, where the responses are also strong for both the control and adapted states. This result is typical in the population of cells, although where the aftereffects do or do not occur is hard to predict. See the model at the end of this poster for a possible explanation for this result.
